Hello Everyone!
Would your child like to race in front of the crowd at the Tacoma Dome? It's that time of the year again and the monster truck show is fast approaching! The Monster Jam is at the Tacoma Dome and it’s our biggest recruiting event of the year drawing most of our new members.
This year’s show runs January 9-11 with one show on Friday, two on Saturday following the Pit Party, and one on Sunday. Little Wheels has an opportunity to put on an exhibition race during each of the pre-show programs as well as participate in the Pit Party. During the Pit Party we set the cars up on one side of the arena and our drivers have an opportunity to talk to the fans and even sign autographs. There’s nothing quite like seeing your child sign a Monster Jam shirt!
We will need 8-12 cars for each show and as many participants as possible for the Pit party. To participate in the Pit Party you must be a member in good standing and to be in one of the exhibition races you should be one year out of Novice and have a car with a Honda or Animal motor. We will also need some additional parent volunteers to man the booth up on the mezzanine once the gates open.
Since the show is in January you will need renew your membership unless you joined after September 1, 2014. The next club meeting is tomorrow December 9th and it’s a great opportunity to complete your membership paperwork.
Here is the schedule.
FRIDAY: The show starts at 7:30, with the doors opening at 6:30. The promoter is asking that the drivers be there at 5:00 for a drivers meeting. Anyone racing will need to be at the dome, gear out of the truck/trailer and IN THE STAGING AREA by 6:00. We need to have the cars staged and our drivers ready to go shortly after the 6:30 opening of the doors. With work schedules and traffic, I know this may be tough for people to make it by 5:00. Please let me know if you have concerns.
SATURDAY: Saturday starts with the PIT PARTY 10:00-12:30. Doors open at 9:30. We need to be there at 9:00. We need to have our cars on display out on the main floor for all the fans wanting to see us up close, along with the trucks and the drivers. This is a lot of fun and one of our best opportunities to talk with potential members and promote the club and the sport. Be sure to bring a trophy or two to display!
Once the Pit Party ends (at 12:30), we wheel our cars back to the staging area and essentially wait for our queue to perform another exhibition race prior to the afternoon show which starts at 2:00. That means we will most likely be going out on the track around 1:00.
SATURDAY NIGHT: The evening show starts at 7:30 with the doors opening at 6:30; we will again need to be prepared to go out for our exhibition race. Please be in staging, getting your car and driver ready by 6:00.
SUNDAY: No Pit Party on Sunday, but the doors open at 1:00 for a 2:00 show. Please be in staging, getting your car and driver ready by 12:00. AGAIN, there is no Sunday night show so we can pack up early!
PARKING WILL BE AN ISSUE! Every year parking is limited so we want to consolidate multiple member’s cars into trailers as much as possible. Parking details will follow as we get closer to the event.
If you are going to participate, send your email to ftamara@wcpsolutions.com. You can also reach me at (206) 940-0927 if you have questions. We need to send a list to the promoter of participating members. If you do not e-mail me in advance you will not be able to get into the show. Each year we are allotted a number of free tickets for participation. YOU MUST BE IN ONE OF THE EXHIBITION RACES TO RECEIVE A TICKET. We may have some additional tickets available for the Pit Party participants but there is no guarantee.
Once the roster is confirmed everyone participating will receive more information.
Our first ride day will take place on January 17th (Yes, I checked and the Seahawks won’t be playing that day!). Please watch your e-mail and the message board for more information because we will need volunteers there as well.
I look forward to working with each of you and making our biggest promotion event of the year another BIG SUCCESS!
